looks like a reputable source

but these guys disagree...

of course they're probably bought and paid for by the windmill cartels

Little old lady who made a dream catcher from found raptor feathers she gathered while hiking gets charged with possession under the "endangered species" act.
Giant "wind farms" have a license and when their over sized blenders turn thousands of birds, including eagles into feather puffs, they have to file a report and promise to look into ways to cut down the bird deaths.

And that famous "97% of scientists agree figure!
From a 2009 paper written by a masters candidate and published by her faculty mentor.
Sent e-mails to a long list of scientists ( I seem to remember having read it was to 3000+) with a survey. Most weren't returned, only about 5% were "climate scientists".

The ones whose answers were counted came from a group that self identified as "climate scientists" and said that 50% or more of their recent published papers discussed climate change.

The 97% were those who answered yes to two questions:
Has the world warmed since 1800? (the Little Ice Age didn't end until about 1870 so I would hope they said it is warmer now)
Are humans a significant factor in this? (asking for an opinion, and what is significant, it varies dependent on who is talking and what its being discussed)

Oh, numbers, that would be 79 total, 77 of them answered yes to both questions, 2 did not.

Yea. Why bother to argue the facts of the Scientific America article when you can bring up long-refuted myths?

You and yours need to go back to school.

Right.

Like Roberjerl said, the Little Ice Age didn't end unto 1870'ish. It's probably safe to say then that the starting figures in 1880 are a bit suppressed. At the end of the day the data presented in these historical graphs just does not cover a wide enough span to make judgements either way. In 1950 everyone would have been calling for a new ice age. People need to get a grip.

Yea. I guess a guy who posts on the Attic knows more than the scientific community.

Sheesh.

Interesting graph!

I saw something on PBS the other day about a comet strike that happened or was alleged to have happened 12,900 years ago. That seems to coincide with the Dryas period in the graph.

Here's an article about it. The gist of it was they found these nano diamonds from coast to coast which should mean there was a cataclysmic event. It also marks the end (more or less) of the Clovis peoples in North America.

Proof that climate changes all the time and sometimes without warning.

Without disputing the validity of this graph, as a result of the scale it is totally useless

And exactly what is wrong with the scale?

It's like debits and credits, one man's warming is another man's cooling. It just keeps changing as it follows the sun.

Tru dat! Unfortunately, there is big money today in A)not believing the weather changes, and B)perpetuating the meme that any and all changes are caused by man and can, arrogantly, be directed by man.

The weather never asks for permission.
Sometimes the change is very slow, sometimes not.

I saw a similar show on the "weather Change" .
They did not call it climate change.
It lasted about 30 years and was the cause of the fall of the beginning Egyptian dynasties.
It affected both the central portion of the United States and most of northern Africa.
That was 4200 years ago and scientists have found that it has had a cycle of about +/- 1500 years since then.
