Adobe DNG converter question

I just installed DNG converter because I cant open RAW files from d3300 in camera raw (CS5). So, DNG converter does not see any files in the folder, not even JPEG.
I downloaded it from here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=6019

What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

You should be able to launch the stand alone DNG converter, then select the source folder (you might need to check off the use sub folders setting), then set your destination folder and set your other options... then convert - it should then read the raws from source and create DNG files in the destination.

Make sure you have at least version of DNG 8.4 for D3300 support.

I have 9.4 version, I tried different folders-does not see any files. Strange, maybe I'll try Nikon Capture NX-D.

I had similar problems when I upgraded to the D7200, the new image were not recognized by Lightroom. After a bit of effort I got to the Adobe converter to work and it does fine, going from Nikon RAW to a .dng. The .dng files can be imported into Lightroom.

Nikon Capture NX-D is slow and clunky to use, or so I have found. It's free so there is no reason to not have it. But I would still prefer to use View NX for quick touch ups and viewing, their lighten shadows and D-Lighting tools work (for me) better than elements. Alas, my new D7200 is not supported by View NX.

I've done a handful of side by side comparisons where I developed the same RAW image in both LR and NXD with mixed results. Sometimes LR was better, sometimes NXD was.

If you run an Apple product, look into Macphun's Aurora software.

Let us know how things work out for ya.

The D3300 that I used was not mine, I borrowed it from a friend, wanted to see what 24mpx will do for me compare to my D5100 (16mpx). Didn't see much of a difference.
Fortunately camera raw (CS5) works fine for my D200 and D5100. Another reason to stay with what I have and enjoy it.
Thank you for your help.

It won't see the files until you start to convert so choose the folder in which you know the files are and then click on Convert.

You are right, it worked, I had to press Convert button. Thank you very much.

Before converting NEF to DNG, I create a new empty subfolder named DNG and use that as the destination folder. That keeps the DNG's separated from the original NEF's. F'rinstance, Photos\Nikon Transfer 2\160\DNG
