No offense toward Don because he is learning. But what I don't understand are all of the overly positive comments when I noticed the errors straight away in the thumbnail. I don't get it. I once threw my camera in the air on a 2 second delay. I thought I had a cool pic and posted it. I got about 3 pages of Holy Hell from people telling me it was pure crap.

Guys, guys, guys! First, you have to know I am not knocking Don one bit, but look at it. It is screwed up all over. It simply is not good. However, he did make an effort and he threw it out here for us to see. Great! But if people keep saying things that simply are not true, the people posting are going to go along thinking that bad is good enough. That is the wrong thing to do in my opinion. When I first joined UHH, I was posting stuff that I thought was very good. I did not get very much of that "Great shot stuff". Instead, I got criticism that made my jaw drop. I was shocked. The people doing this were not mean about it either. They were actually very helpful. So, I would take their advice and throw more on here. Eventually I got better.

Just last night, I was editing some pics I took earlier in the day of my new twin grandchildren that were born on Saturday. I changed the backgrounds using the new Topaz Re mask 5. The results were so bad that I had to go back and totally re work them. They were far worse than Don's post. I am at the point where I will not post bad photos unless I am just goofing around.

Before this, I did some test shots with this program and posted them on the people section. A gentleman recognized my shortcomings and gave me some very helpful advice. I tried to apply this advice to the baby pictures, but I guess I was tired and did not quite do it right.

Sure, I could have posted the bad attempts, but I did not want any false praise. What is really sad about my photos is that they are not very good in the first place (it is really hard to shoot through an incubator) but I knew I could fix them up a bunch in photoshop. How did I know this? It is because way back when, instead of getting false praise, I got help with shooting through glass and various photoshop techniques that I just was not getting by watching youtube tutorials.

So, I am sticking by my guns; I think false praise does more harm than good. If people were took look closely at some of these posts and then just sit back and digest why they are not that good, it just may help them take better pictures themselves.

I do know what I am talking about. Just look at the responses to my portraiture in the people photography section. I am getting killed in there! Yet, I heed the advice and I come back with something better; still getting beat up some. And I still keep posting. Sure, I do get the occasional false praise, but it is more subtle because these people don't recognize the flaws as some of the experts out here see and bring to my attention.

Same thing here, with Donald's pic. I am able to offer some advice on how to fix this up some, so I did. Please don't get too mad at me. I am just trying to help. I love you all!

OK guys, what photo are you looking at? Nice concept art, but the actual photo leaves much to be desired. Is there no one other than Tom and I who can see this? Come on! Give Donald some constructive criticism so that he can overcome his propensity toward mediocrity at best. If I submit a photo that sucks, please be kind and honest enough to tell me how I could have improved it. Geesus.
