hell i made a charger for shits an grins. that will charge a 1.5 amp battery in 3 days. pulling electricity out of the air. using a homemade circut board an a long piece of wire. lol.

It is good they are finding and improving alternate sources. Look at PC storage. Many years ago a 10 meg HD was HUGE and very very expensive. look at them now. You can buy 2 TB flash drives on WISG.COM. Yes, 2 TB. The electric car is the same. We will get there and when the oil runs out. You will still be able to get your ass down to Costco.

Let me preface this by stating I'm a petroleum geologist. I firmly believe that hydrocarbon based energy has no more than 15 years left as the primary source. Some technology will kill hydrocarbon sourced energy. Whether it be a breakthrough in battery technology, fusion, or something that I don't know about now. I am betting battery technology. But who knows?
I love cars. I love V8 engines, but they're going to be replaced with the whine of electric motors. In many ways electric motors are better. They have instant torque, instant horsepower, and are virtually maintenance free.

Challenges will exist. Consider the environmental impact of recycling millions of car batteries in the no-too-distant future. Perhaps oil will be diverted to power plants to produce enough electricity when everyone plugs in.
