Black and white / blues trials for opinions

I usually don't do the black and whites, but my daughter wanted to wear a wig playing dress up, that had blue streaks, so I played with it a little bit. I really love the way they came out, but not sure if it is because she is my daughter, or because I know what they looked like with the blue wig. I would absolutely love opinions and ideas!

Nice composition and subject. There is a problem with the highlights however as most are blown out and lack detail with harsh transitions to the shadows. Were these shot as black and white images, converted to black and white or?
Can you post an original image as it may show something in post processing that created a problem. The blown out highlights make for a flat look. My thoughts...but I have to admit that I'm viewing the photos on the small screen of my iPhone.
