I had installed Google Photos last week and after the discussion
came up to day I went ahead and downloaded my pics while we went to church. I have looked at it and I do not find an editor of any kind. as far as organizing, it does not do what Picasa did.I could not fine help files and other helpful uses.
Am I missing some thing or to far behind the modern technology? I use it some if I wanted to find a photo in my albums and for the water marks and few other things. I never liked their editor, just mainly for an organizer and the above mentioned uses.
I did not download Google Photos, but, I did go look at what the features were. Google seems to assure Picasa users that they will not see that much difference in the new Google Photos. However, during my research, I could find nothing about post-processing photos in the new Google Photos. It is mainly a viewer and organizer. I think Google just pulled the wool over thousands of Picasa user's eyes. What rip! Have a GREAT DAY!

I never used Picasa for processing (or much of anything else), but I do like Photos, although not for processing. I couldn't find any info about Photos having processing capabilities. This link leads to an article that shows some advantages of Photos.

I have never used Picasa but have started to use Photos, for transferring from mobile device to Instagram etc., the editing seems quite straightforward to me. Pic 1 shows the edit tool and Pic 2, the editing interface.

Google Photos has a basic but very good editor, you can use "Auto" correct, or "Brightness" "Colour" "Pop" and "Vignette", it is also possible to "Crop", "Rotate" and "Level" the horizon
If you read the post from Glaspark you will see the editor in action.
Thanks for the info. If you click on an image, a menu appears in the upper left, with a pencil indicating the editor.
I may be stating the obvious but:
If you download an image from Google Photos, you can then use any editor to process the image further.
I think the OP is asking about finding photos rather than using the editor. Choosing "Collections", and then selecting the dropdown "usually defaults to "albums", offers several ways to find and categorize images. Including a spookily accurate facial recognition feature.

Have a look at 'FastStone Image Viewer' - which is freeware.
It is a very versatile program with many features. After I first downloaded this program I never uses Picasa again.
