Thank you! He was a very handsome fellow, and I loved that thick mane blowing in the wind :)

#2 is a super shot. Love the b/w treatment. This looks like one of those horses found on the steppes of Russia or Mongolia.

Thank you so much, AuntieM. He and his 3 sweeties definitely do look like the sturdy, shorter horses you're mentioning. Also Icelandic ponies. They were quite beautiful!

LOL - it's fun when horses (and sometimes cows) take an interest in the photographer, even if no treats are forthcoming :) Thanks so much for your comments.

Thank you so much, Jim! I know you're often not a fan of b&w, so your comments mean a lot to me.

Removing color allows us to focus on the horse's sturdy, intelligent and inquisitive nature. And maybe to enjoy the rather brisk mood of the windy, blustery day. (that's my story and I'm sticking to it :) )

No. 2, for sure, Linda. Did you consider using b&w for background only? I'm curious about the true color of the mane.

Thank you, Dave! I'm working strictly black and white right now, but will give that a try. The horse is palomino color and the mane is light yellow/off-white, with black.

Well done and I agree on no. 2 I enjoyed your post and forum on the discussion of black and white, ever one was civil and not any arguing or name calling, well moderate.
