Just wondered if the SX60 was possibly a little less noisy at the long end....thats all....yes honestly it is a valid question..Out of the 4 cameras I listed the HX300/400...Fuji SI.... Canon SX50 I find the 50 a little better and my FZ200 pretty clear...I imagine the SX50 due to 12mp opposed to 20 and the FZ200 at 12mp and 600mm...I am asking if canon did anyrthing to make it a better shot...Thats all. I am going to help a good friend pick a bridge for a long awaited trip to Puerto Rico.....Appreciate any imput thanks

If you can't help the OP you don't need to post a stupid reply - you should be the last one to "question" anyone on a photo forum. Because you can't even take a decent shot with a D800e. How pathetic is that? Why don't you take up another hobby... Like collecting used erasers.

Stop imberrassing the photography world. Sell your camera gear and donate the $$$ to feed hungry children. Now that would be the perfect picture.

I can only speak for the SX50 & SX60 as I presently own both. I'm selling the SX 60. You might want to read what Lilian Stokes wrote if bird photography matters to you.

Thanks it is somewhat an eyeopener ....If you have these issues with basicially as Ms Stokes repeated `Not Sharp`....I can see you selling your camera.. there is not a perfect camera....always having to give up something. Will talk to her tonight and we will come up with something to get her out of her cellphone....and have her get her memories of this trip of her lifetime...Lord knows she deserves a beautiful experience....Thanks

The Canon SX50 is a wonderful camera not in production anymore. You can buy used. Two individuals on this site took excellent photos with one I remember was a Bird Thief stealing fish. My backup camera to my DSLR is a Nikon Coolpix L840, 16 megapixels. 38X. 22.5-855mm. Nikkor fixed lens. You may want more or better features. Consider other suggestions too.

If she decides on buying an SX50 I suggest you keep an eye on CanonPriceWatch and put it on the notify list for a refurbished. They are becoming rarer and pretty soon your only alternative will be ebay. The SX60 was best described as muddy on the long end. If you're lucky you can get a refurbished for 139.99 on Canon's site but they are now just trickling. They will be completely gone soon.

Basing from my experience with my SX30 and addressing only the noise/IQ question. I learned very quickly that IQ suffered greatly once you pass from "optical" zoom into "digital" zoom. So, if I were in the market, I would want to consider something in the higher optical zoom range, without a lot of focus on the total digital zoom range.

I suspect you may already know this but, many here reading this may not.

Thanks for that. Interesting. We originally got the SX50 on Lilian's recommendation and have been happy with it.

Thanks I did give Canon refurb a call....the 50 is out of stock and they have no idea when they will have another trickle in....from what I have seen when I got to go on the trails and put it through it paces... It had some good images come out of the camera and I liked the in camera filters alot...they should have made a few more.....when something works don`t change it.
