You are absolutely right about the stillness, it's like a mirror. The Greeks compare this absolute calm to olive oil. It's even rarer to catch the sea as calm as your pond.

I took quite a few shots that day. It really was that still - this is not a long exposure, 0.3 of a second, if I recall right. There were no photoshop tricks or anything, either.

I did have to watch my positioning, since there was a group of kids from a church there fishing over on my right, so every now and again there would be ripples moving out from their lines. It is well shrouded by trees, so not much wind would get to it, although I cannot remember if there was any or not. It wasn't a very nice day, weather-wise, especially for July...

Thank you for the details, very interesting. I think there is real magic in still water and reflected images and I am sure many photographers love it as well. You have found a great spot, you should go back to it!
