I am considering purchasing the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 lens for my newly acquired D7200. Do any of you use this combination and if so, how satisfied are you with it? My intended use is family photos, inside shots at church, parties, etc. I have yet to go the third party lens route. It is either this or the newer Nikon 16-80mm f/2.8-4, but if I go with the Nikon, I will need to wait a while due to the much higher cost ($1069). Adorama has the Sigma on sale right now for $399 and that include the optional docking mechanism.
I have used the Sigma 17-70 for about 4 years now on Canon ( no dock) - I have never been disappointed - but usually do not shoot it wide open either.
I would like to suggest the Sigma 18-300. It works great on my Canon 70D........ Take a look........ From close-up to wide angle and telephoto.
I also had the same lens on a Nikon D7200 - works great but I do not like the way Nikon controls and functions work. I gave them away to a friend. I wish they would make one with Sony e-mount.

I do have the Nikon 18-200mm currently sitting on my D7000. I was looking for something a little lighter but may just share the lens between the two bodies. The photo is certainly indicative of what I would be looking for.

I guess to each his own. I just unloaded a Sony a6000 because I could not get used to Sony controls and functions after about 30 years of shooting Nikon. Thanks for the photo to show what the lens can do.
