Pentax K-1 is being released with a new Sony sensor 36MP, full frame, to be released on or about 2-18-16, with GPS, 6.5 fps and hopes to compete against the Nikon D750. Will this new camera be a success for Pentax?

I have shot the K-1 and it's an impressive camera for the Pentax crowd. Tamron is making Pentax branded lenses for it. Their biggest issue right now is the lack of a reliable warranty center in the USA.

You tested one already. Interesting. Looks like Pentax should have settled that reliable warranty service some months ago. Thus far they have the 24-70mm and 150-450mm lenses for it. The camera otherwise is a solid performer. Good news to Pentax fans. Thanks.

I am not a marketing expert. Nikon people generally stick with Nikon unless they switch to Cannon or some other brand. The key will be the features and what manufacturer Pentax is taking aim at.

I have shot Pentax for many years and look forward to shooting with the K-1 some day. I have found Pentax to be as reliable as any of the other major brands.

I just need a bit of clarification here. Did you shoot with a K_1 dslr or a K_ 01 mirrorless. Could you tell us the circumstances ive been dying to get my hands on one.

The K1, I have no interest in a K-01 or any other mirrorless product.

As a long time Pentaxian, I'd be surprised if Pentax was seriously targeting CanNikon users. A full-frame Pentax has been a mirage for many years -- a long-standing promise to a fan base thirsting for a reason to stay with their brand for just a little while longer. In the meantime, Ricoh's been upgrading their crop sensor models sensibly -- with both IQ and value for money uppermost in their priorities.

But I think it's been tough to hold the line against the mirrorless invasion -- especially the full-frame mirrorless. The FF Pentax is necessity to keep loyalists from jumping ship to the Sonys.

The Pentax K-1 is a full frame 36 megapixels non-mirrorless camera not released. The Pentax K-01 is a 16 megapixels camera

The Pentax K-1 is a full frame 36 megapixels non-mirrorless camera not released. The Pentax K-01 is a 16 megapixels mirrorless camera already on the market. Confusing it is.
