Yesterday while driving home from work, I heard that
Obama's addministration and the National Defence Dept.
had announced that the war on Terror is now over. I don't
know about you, but as a war veterian I was always told
in order for a war to end someone has to be a winner.
Either one side is disarmed or one side surrended. Does
this mean that we will no longer have to worry about terror-
ism here in the U.S., does this mean that we want need to
be delayed at the air port with strip searchs.
Or does this come down to a let the bad guy do what he
wants and may-be yes may-be he'll leaves us along. Just
thinking out load. But where is the parade and the fire works.
Gee I sure do miss the old the celebrations, but wait I don't
having any on our return from Viet Nam either. WOW

Isn't the 'National Department of Defense' the Canadian term for their department? Did you really mean 'the Defense Department'? I hadn't heard that in the news, interesting....

Couple of strange things about this statement.
1. It wasn't made by Obama, it was reportedly made by a "senior official"
2. It's only reported in conservative publications and is out of context.
3. It really doesn't mean anything because there never was a "war" on terror. There was a war on Afghanistan and Iraq and a response both reactive and proactive against terrorists, but alas no war.
In the end, it's just some more bias reporting with out of context quotes attributable to unnamed sources. And yes, I know, the left does that too.

Sorry,Stand corrected, the Defense Department, must have
been paying more attention to my driving, then to the
radio. It was made by the SENIOR OFFICIAL, which stated the
WAR ON TERROR and there was and still aren't any denials
that it was said. But I'll keep listening to the CONSERVATIVE radio station just to be on the safe side.
But don't worry because I know for a fact that our men and
women in our ARM FORCES and PROTECTION DEPT. are watching over us.WE WILL BE SAFE, BECAUSE WE ARE STRONG .

Sorry, I met to say our men and women(women and men)in our
law enforcement and security department.I was woundering if
we are THE UNITED STATE OF AMERICA, how come the states are
so united, yet it seems the people are all divided. An old
teacher of mine told me that division is good as long as it
isn't between family, friends and relatives. Which goes with
the old saying a leader will walk in front of you, a follower will walk behind you, but a true friend will always
walk next to you. I trully believe that ever one has a loving and a forgiving heart, but to many times we have the
tendency to let politics and religion divide us apart.
I just said I was thinking out loud and would like other
people opinion on the radio broadcast I heard on the way
home.I didn't mean to ruffle up any feather.
I do addmit at 65 I'm not the brightest person in the world
and I do make mastakes, but if we can't come together, we
better do a better job than what we doing now.

You did realize that there was no winner in Viet Nam conflict, right? And I'm pretty sure when it comes right down to it there is no "winner" in any military war or conflict.

There wasn't a winner in Korea either.

Never a winner? Hummmm I wonder what the Japanese or Germans would say about that. Although it’s true many conflicts have ended with no proclaimed winner (and in the case of Viet Nam I’d say the US simply lost that one) I suggest that a thorough examination of world history would reveal many winners.

I fought along with many brave men and women in Viet Nam
and many would say if the poilitians would have let the
commander run the war instead of poilitians it would have
been a different turn out. I truely believe as many others
do that any poilitians than has any thing to do with the
country's defense should have at lease 4 years of Military
service served. How can you teach some one how to drive a
car if you yourself can't? Again just thinking out loud.

Docrob wrote "Don't forget God is on our side " As a
Christian I agree 100%, but I also remember He said that
He would do the impossible and it was up to us to do the possible. Many times I believe we put to many things in
God's hand that He has put on us to do ourselves. I was
telling a good friend of mines who was having problems
at work and he said he kept praying about it and it seems
like God wasn't listening. I told him prayers works, but it
also require effert. I told him it like looking out side
of a window and see your neighbor beating his wife, instead
of going and help you go behind close doors and pray.
Then you look again and see him beating her on the ground
again you go back to the closet and pray even more, finially
you come out of the closet and find an ambulance out side
your neighbor house picking you a dead body. Then you turn
around and ask Where was God ? Many of us may ask why hasn't
anyone found a cure for cancer or many other sickness and
we pray to God to send us some one. Then God reply might
I did but he or she was aborted. STOP AND THINK I know I'll
get burnt for this comment.

Actually I have heard (even from a Medal of Honor winner) that if they had let the real "commanders" run the war in 'Nam, it would have been over sooner. Johnson and McNamara sitting down to breakfast at the White House and 'picking' air targets that were not strategic in value was a waste of time, money and lives.

Seems to me that our goals have something to do with it, we don’t fight to win but instead we worry about collateral damage and our image. We’re bombing hell out of your country but oh by the way we want you to like us.
