My last dog died over a year ago. It was very painful and I swore I would never go through that again. My son hounded me (no pun intended) into getting a new one. She's part shepherd and lab. She was pretty nervous at first but has started to come out of her shell. She loves the snow and tennis balls.

Yep, know where you are come from, Gary, About the same with us, but now have had a little Jack Russell for close to seven years. We had always had large dogs before her, but now would be lost without her!

She's adorable and thank you for rescuing her!!
It's always painful to lose a loved animal, but the love they give you, for however long, out weighs the pain....
They leave their paw prints on you heart and always make room for a new set!!
Enjoy her!!
:-D

Looking good. I've been in the same boat. My chocolate lab passed 6 months ago and I miss her so much. Every time we think of getting another dog I get afraid. I dont think I can go through that again both watching her go downhill over two years and the last long trip to the vet. Maybe one day. It makes my heart glad to see another pup that will be loved. Congrats

She is really cute. Her name is Riley. My son (13) is crazy about her. She was so nervous when I brought her home but is starting to play, which is always a good sign. Thanx for looking. Gary

Great looking pup gwr. All of ours have been rescues for many years now. Know what it is like to lose a member of the family. After one dies I swear we will not do it again but we always do.

Its funny that you said that. Ive rescued 3 dogs in the past. All, huge males that nobody would take from the pound. This smaller female just caught my eye and I'm thrilled she chose me. Gary

Thank you Angela. I think she's adorable too. It took a year but the house just felt empty w/out a dog. Gary

I've rescued 2 labs and a golden retriever in the past. Amazing companions. It took a year after that long, horrible ride to the vet. Finally, it felt like the time was right. My son would ask everyday for the past month. My wife tried being an ice queen about the dog but the ice melted about 30 seconds after I brought her home. Gary

Thanx Don. I guess we are just suckers for dogs. I would've put my hand on a bible and swore the last one was it. But, in time, the house just didn't feel right w/out a dog. Gary

Riley looks like such a sweetheart.

I got Trixie only 6 weeks after having to put down my previous rescue dog, a blond beagle mix male who lived with me for 14 years. It was probably too soon as it took awhile for me to really bond with Trixie.

She was up to the challenge, though, and finally won me over :)

I hope Riley brings you as much joy as you have given her.

Thank you so much Linda. I was worried at first, but when she started playing and chasing her tail, I knew she was going to be fine. I'm crazy about her too. Gary

Thank you very much creative simon. I know your pain all too well. My last 2 rescues were w/ us for 14 years each. Its not easy to recover from that. I hope you too can get one soon. Gary
