I imaged this toughie Friday night....but the threat of clouds dictated my decisions to shoot 60 second exp. at ISO 3200 and go for 120 subs. Probably not the best choice of camera settings so tonight - again the threat of clouds linger - I plan to reshoot M81 using the AVX along with the 8 inch (no focal reducer) I will guide and dither, dither, and dither. This time at ISO 400 and 480 second exp. I will shoot as many subs as I can squeeze in. Once the kit is cranking out images - I will sit in the comfy of my lazyboy - IPAD in hand keeping an eye on my laptop (use Team Viewer) while watching the Panthers vs Broncos duke it out.
I am pulling for the Panthers but will not lose sleep if Peyton wins and is carried off into the sunset. What a quality ambassador for the NFL!
Cam Newton should take a lesson in "behavior" from Manning!
I have only seen smudges and never know if I have it in my sights.
Nice job of capture and stacking.

Outstanding! I am getting up at 5AM in the morning for work, and not much chance to do much until I can do retirement.
Very nice detail, I am partial to M82 out of the pair but both are great Northern Galaxies. You mentioned dithering, I also dither, but wonder how much is enough. I want to dither enough to eliminate the reoccurring hot and cold pixels, it not so much as to require noticeable clipping g of the final image. Lately been using 50-100 pixels as my standard, but just curious how aggressively you use it?
Clear skies,
Matthew
