I just discovered that this pier extension works on the AVX mount. Besides eliminating the fear of a refractor hitting a tripod leg....it keeps you from having to extend the legs of the tripod (stability) and it raises the polar scope for easy viewing of polaris without getting on your knees or nearly so.
Nice setup.
Funny you should mention crawling around on your knees.
I have not extended the legs of my mount since I set it up.
I crawl and laydown to get everything aligned and focused.
The things we do to do the things we do.
