I am interested in anyone's experience, results and opinions using Mac's Photo editing software. Thanks!
I used to use Aperture. Once Apple discontinued it and released Photos, which is more like iPhoto and less like Aperture, I switched to Lightroom.

It's on my mac, but haven't been able to get excited about it. I switched to Light Room when they quit supporting Iphoto and am glad I did. :-D
I didn't care much for iPhoto, and I care even less for the curren app "Photos", don't use it for anything but stuff brought in from iPhone.
Lightroom is my primary program.
Lightroom v5.7 and DxO OpticsPro

Thank everyone for your responses! Lightroom seems to be the winner.
DxO for me with Nik occasionally.

I used aperture and when the new Mac photos came out it was so bad I switched to Lightroom. It is amazing and I should have switched years ago. I don't use iPhoto at all. I got the Lightroom and photoshop suite and pay $9 a month. It's always using the new version. It's great.

If you are familiar with MAC and liked what you have used, perhaps you may want to consider affinity Photo by serif. There have been discussions here before and those that are using it apparently prefer it over LR. I have LR but will be in the minority as I don't really care for it. Just my personal opinion and others will certainly disagree. Thats fine as we all have opinions and are entitled to them. Just offering it up as an option for you to consider. If it works for you great. If not there was nothing lost by checking it out. Good luck what ever you decide.

Mac Photos is fantastic for organizing, displaying, syncing with iPad and iPhone, and quickly finding pictures by date, location, title, keyword, or caption.
Actual editing is quite rudimentary, but much mproved from when it first came out. Also, Affinity, which was mentioned earlier, can be used as a "plug-in" which greatly extends the editing function.
If, like me, all you do is things like sharpen, change exposure or white balance, maybe add some saturation, Photos is quite adequate.

Thank you for mentioning Affinity. I enjoy nature photography and have a MacBook and iMac that I use for editing with Photos. I shoot in RAW, and although elementary, have found Photos adequate for the editing required for the majority of my images. I have used Photoshop (have not found it that user friendly) and would rather spend my time taking photos than learning a system, which for me, exceeds what I generally want or need to do. I have already started checking out Affinity and it looks great. Thanks!

There is better software out there. The combination of Lightroom for file management and fast parametric editing, together with Photoshop for detail-level editing is what most professionals use. Some plugin suites like Nik, Topaz and On1 offer faster ways to do what Photoshop does, and in many cases minimize the need to use Photoshop.
Like others above, I switched to Lightroom when iPhotos was dropped but also use PSE for some post-processing at times.

Thank you Gene51... will check out those plugin suites....
