Wondering about Costco Photo?

I searched UHH and did not find any recent threads on Costco Photo. My questions include--

- Are you currently using Costco to print images?
- What about their matte images? Canvas?
- Is their quality level enough for displaying images in galleries?

That should be enough for now. Thank you.

Yes, Costco is a very good printer. They might even have a profile for one of their printers that you can download for better results. At least they do at my Costco.
I find that they do very good on printing, but you might be looking for a custom print job, in that case you will spend a lot more on your prints. You have to decide what you need and what you want to spend. I have gotten very good results from costco.

I am not a pro selling prints, but for my amateur needs, Costco does a good job.

They give quite good results. But many are closing their in store photo services this month. You can still get prints, but will take approx. 5 days for delivery per our local Costco photo center.

I used Epson printers for many years and currently have 4 unusable units. I decided to try Costco initially for smaller prints, but they have done 20 x 30 prints that I am very satisfied with. You can get mounted prints for very reasonable rates. I have used their prints in two gallery shows. Once you try the service, you can fine tune your sent images to match their printers. Great value, wonderful service. I also appreciate the convenience of sending images from my computer and picking them up one hour later.

Chapjohn, Yes, Yes and Yes. I'm a professional and do much of my printing on Canon Pro 9000 and 9500 printers but for my hobby photos (wildlife and nature) it's off to Costco. The most important thing about sending images to Costco is telling them NOT to 'auto adjust' your image, because you should have done all your correcting in the computer.
Costco enlargements are definitely satisfactory and I normally get the larger images done in luster. Luster is just fine as well as Costco's canvas prints. Sometime times I need a custom size canvas print and I'll have to go elsewhere. I often sell my images printed by Costco and have never had a complaint. I think you'll be happy. Good question and my best, J. Goffe

That situation is only at Costcos in the Eastern US, particularly centered around Georgia and Florida. Where they have moved to centralized printing and most have or are discontinuing film processing. In the West, especially California Costco has no plans to end in-store printing and some are continuing Film processing. I've posted on this a few times before as I gathered information from talking to Costco photo dept. employees.

And the Costco services I've used I am happy with.

I use them for display at photo club but not for wall hangers. They don't compare to Bay Photo or Adorama.

Here in the UK I find the quality, spot on. I've used them for several years without complaint.

I use Costco for Luster prints. Make sure you use their Dry Creek Profile to make sure what you see on your screen is what you get on your prints. Many members of our club sell and display Costco prints. They are Fuji prints chemical prints.

Topcat has a good answer. And, if you work with them, I have found that they will reprint at no cost if you are unhappy. I've had excellent results as have other in our club.
