Hi All,
I haven't been around for some time. My loss...
I bought a Nikon P900 a week or so ago and the macro mode is really impressive. Having a raft of old slides, I set out to make a duplicator. After a couple of attempts I have arrived at a satisfactory solution.
Went to Homedepot and bought a 3" abs pipe coupler and a 3X2" reducer that fits inside the coupler. Put the reducer all the way into the coupler and mounted the wole thing on my wood lathe. Turned the reducer down for a smooth fit on the camera barrel up as far as it would go - sized to the barrel grip.
Polished the inside with acetone on fine steel wool so there is no scratching or chafing.
Again using the lathe I turned a piece of 3/4 plywood to fit over the 3" coupler and mounted a couple of rails on the front.
The rails fit an old duplicator slide holder.
The biggest problem is getting the slides really dust free...
Fun project...

Ed,
Nice work. Next project, build a camera?

And I thought my duplicator was elaborate!
Sounds like a plan. I'll call it a "Nican."
I guess I always get a little carried away.

At least your chips don't get stale when you're duplicating.

Ed, by the time you read this a Chinese outfit will be in full production duplicating your efforts. Seriously, nice job.
