I am going on o Antartica in 2 and. Half weeks and am taking my D810 and my d200 which I had converted to IR The question is what kind of memory cards should I take. It probably will be cold so what do you recommend. When we lived in Russia I noted that it took a long time to write to the card when it was cold. Any help would be appreciated
The more, the better. 8 or 16 GB cards seem to be most cost-efficient per GB, and while you are using one in the camera, you'll have several others on your body staying warm - ready to replace the chilled card in the camera. For a trip like this, I wouldn't hesitate bringing at least a dozen cards along. They don't take up much space; you can fit them all into one pocket.
I would bring many cards and batteries. I use 32MB cards and buy the fastest speed.I would suggest: SanDisk 32GB Extreme UHS-I U3 SDHC Memory Card (Class 10)

From everything I have read thus far, Sandisk SDHC Extreme or extreme plus 16gb or 32 gb cards seem to be highly rated, go to a site called "Wirecutter" for an excellent detailed review of these cards.
I wish you well on your adventure, be safe.
Yes, I would also bring a few extra batteries and chargers also, the cold weather will be hard on your batteries, keep them in a warm place, you may consider those "instant heat" packs to put in your camera bag or in your pocket.

I've used Lexar, Sandisk and Sony cards, no problems (yet) with either. I believe, though, that you would be wise to choose the type that Nikon has approved. D200 User's Manual, page 183, D810 manual, page 487. Enjoy your trip!
I've been using Transcend forever. NEVER had an issue and the best deal going Lifetime warranty.
Get them on Amazon.
I've had good luck with both SanDisk and Lexar. Take several smaller capacity cards rather that a few big ones. 8-16GB. That way if you loose one you won't loose everything!
Class 10 16GB / 32GB SanDisk / Lexar is what I usually rely on. No problems so far.

i use 32gb or 64gb no less then class 10
Thank you all for your good thoughts. Be safe
Depends on your budget. I've used Transcend cards for many years. Transcend uses Samsung chips and SMI controllers for SD and CF cards exactly the same internal components as many of the flagship branded cards but at a much better price point.

Get the fastest that your camera can handle (Owner's Manual). I use 32 and 64GB when traveling. Of course, you'll need both SD and CF, so read up on them and buy brand names. Try each one before you leave.
