Kalashnikov is moving an AK47 Assembly Plant from Pennsylvania to Florida. They started assembling their Assault Rifles in PA, but decided to move to Pompano Beach Fla...

Puzzling, but maybe they presume seniors in FLA will work for less than Pennsylvanians???

Decide for yourself.

No labor unions to speak of in Florida. Low wages, no benefits. Great for employers. Not so great for workers. But maybe they can get employee discounts on an AK....

I think I read that Pa changed it's gun laws so companies have to move or face lawsuits.

This sounds more like the truth. I'm sure that the people that get jobs in FL will be glad to have the job. I'm sure it will pay better than flipping burgers at McDonalds.

So what do they call it when someone goes "postal" in an assault rifle factory?

The warmest place in Russia is like Pennsylvania. Florida gives the Russian execs and their wives a nice place to visit at investor's expense. Who cares what the employees are paid?

I imagine both. But there are laws in the US that prevent Arms manufacturers from selling to unauthorized countries. There'd be hell to pay if they sold guns to enemy or unstable foreign countries.

The reason I asked was that I can't imagine that sales in the US would justify the expenditure of building a new factory just to manufacture assault rifles. The demand must surely be quite low for such weapons.

Demand is probably higher than you think.

Really! The USA, UK, France, Russia et al have been selling weapons to unauthorized/unstable regimes for years.

When the Russians were in trouble having invaded Afghanistan the Taliban were supplied with all sorts of weapons from 'The West' to help in their fight.
A short while later these weapons were turned on the forces trying to support the elected government, including US, UK and forces.

Selling arms is simply about money and the projection of power.

"Assault rifle"? If I bashed in your head with a rock, would that be an assault rock? You don't know what you are talking about.

True, but that's not arms manufacturers selling direct to these places. That's our government selling or giving arms to those places for their own agendas. But our government doesn't get them for free from the arms manufacturer, they pay for them.
