Can Any One Identify This Bird

I was shooting at a seafood restaurant on the coast of North Carolina when I saw this bird perched just on the seaside of the restaurant. Can someone identify this bird?

Thanks. This is the first time that I have seen this bird. I was trying out my new camera and lens and there it was.

I was lucky to get a shot. I was trying out my new canon 7D MKii with my new Tamron 150-600 lens when I saw this bird perched about 150' away. There were a few of them perched but took off as I was walking towards them. They were very skittish. The weather was cloudy and misty. Not a good day to learn a new camera and lens.
