Davis-Monthan AFB Tucson, AZ
Well, there's Davis Monthan AFB. Have no clue how accessible it is.
I know the AF base.. shooting through the fence is not what I had in mind..I am looking for up close and older general aircraft.

Also there is a air museum in Kalamazoo, MI that has several vintage planes.

I'm guessing that you aren't as interested in museum items on display as much as you are interested in an airplane junk yard. If that's the case, then Davis Montham is your best bet... but you will need to gain access.
There is a program that allows private citizens in for photography... but you will have to check into it for yourself.
You might try the Pima Air & Space Museum.
Ask at your local private airport "Where do planes go to die?"
The "Boneyard" at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson has over 4400 older aircraft and it is not difficult to visit if you go to the Pima Air Museum and take one of their bus tours. However, most of the aircraft there are from the jet age and almost all of them are military. (the Pima Air Museum has some civilian aircraft and a lot of military aircraft). The only drawback to the Boneyard bus tour is that you will not be allowed off the bus and they limit what you can carry on the bus. (cameras OK). If you are looking for a great collection of older aircraft AND cars and are in the northwest, there is a great museum in Hood River, OR that has some really interesting cars and planes (like the Serial Number 1 Curtiss Jenny). This could be combined with a visit to the Evergreen Air and Space Museum in McMinnville, OR which is the home of the "Spruce Goose" and many other famous aircraft. Each of these could be an easy day trip from Portland, OR. If you are near Reno, NV, a visit to the National Auto Museum which houses the old Harrah's collection has some of the most magnificent cars you will ever see. Hope you add these to your bucket list.

Not a junkyard, but if you want to shoot all kinds of old and new aircraft, it doesn't get any better then this:

THIS should help.
Cool! Been looking for some DC-3's. One airport within driving distance shows 3 sitting near the hangar. Thanks!
