Looking for a camera to tranfer pics to office computer

I am looking for a good point and shoot camera to take shop pictures with and send to my office computer without going to the "cloud" via wifi. Or a camera that can change picture title before downloading, this one could be without wifi. We take pictures of work projects and use them for documentation, it is a small shop and most jobs are "onesies". We used an ipod touch and it was just too grainy for details.

Many shop pictures work better with tripod but not flash.

This isn't a camera choice problem, it's about software and networking. If your IT guys can tell you how to transfer JPEG files, you can use anything from a basic smart phone or tablet to a top of the line professional camera.

Can you ask your techies how to do the picture transfers? Once they can tell you that, you should be able to choose almost any camera that you wish.

What is your budget? There are tons of ways to do this from CamRangers to WiFi cards etc.

The fact that you iPod photos are grainy means there is not enough light in the shop for decent photos. You need to add a flash, or take a longer exposure. This would depend on the shot, if people are in these shots longer exposures probably will not work. On the other hand if the shot is of a static work environment, a tripod and a longer exposure will probably work just fine.

OK. I'll bite. And I did try to find it on Google. What is a "shop picture" it is a term of art with which I am unfamiliar.

Any camera that allows you to plug a USB cable into it somewhere should work. It's as simple as plugging the cable into the camera, then the other end into the computer.

You didn't mention image quality. Does it matter? Is there a budget?

Because the OP uses the camera to document work projects and I am sure he meant non moving objects. For that regular shop lighting and a tripod would work much better than the built in flash. Of course elaborate multiple off camera flash or studio flash setup can be better.

iPhone 6. I receive photos all the time from sign fabricators who take pictures in their shop warehouses. You can easily edit in snapseed on the fly. If you need more light get an add on light (scroll mid way down on th link)
