E Mang will be your host for this challenge; here is her message to all
Hoggers, I am so sorry but my internet is messed up as of tonight. Cox will be here Friday afternoon to fix it. Meanwhile Pat has come to the rescue.
It is interesting to me that every area of out world has its own special flavor. Let the rest of us know why your area is special to you. If I showed up there what would I like to photograph?I will show you what is special around Baton. Rouge as soon as I can use the net. I will be watching and in contact as I can find Internet.
So, I selected a few that make where I live special (looking forward to seeing Baton Rouge, E Mang!)
Sounds interesting thanks Pat for getting it going
hope E is up and running soon--must be frustrating
These things keep me going.....
Thanks so much for helping EMang out Pat! That is great!
Also great way to start it out! Wonderful photography Pat! Someone looks a bit familiar too! ;-) I really love how you captured the lighthouse! And #2...you got such a better angle of it than I did! For some reason I could not seem to "capture" it. And the last one....such special memories for you as well as telling us a story.

St. Thomas is known as "The Railway Capital of Canada". Back when I was a child, if you were not working for the railroad...you had a family member who was! We were the main track between Detroit and Buffalo. My husband worked for the N.S.R.R. for 24 years.
Unfortunately we are also know for being the city where Jumbo the Elephant was killed. He as apparently brought in for Circus and was killed trying to protect a baby elephant from getting killed by another train. We now have a life sized statue sitting at the top of the hill as you enter from the west end of town.
E. Mang, I will be back in morning. Pat has had to help me get going too. Great to have a someone to rely on when computers get stubborn or connections decide to take a break.

Have been through St Thomas and never recalled a "Dumbo" statue.

That's what we're here for - help each other out.

Your snowshoes are headed UP the tree. But you are down below taking their picture. Do they really help you climb? I suppose the ice grippers on them would help some...LOL
Night all. Getting my gear ready as I am planning to roll out of bed to catch the sunrise at Pine Point Beach tomorrow while sunrise is still late and it's not supposed to be quite as cold. Hope I get something worth getting up for!
