Hey gang!
Is there a way to turn on Exposure Preview so shutter speed and aperture will be reflected in the LCD while in live view?
Thanks so much!
Push the little button next to the lens (bottom right usually for Nikons. Now this ia generic answer but I think that thing is still there.
That was used to test the DOF....

I don't believe DOF preview will work in Live View... it does not on my D7100, only in viewfinder mode.

You are likely right on that one as I thought about it, the camera would react to the change of light anyway...
NOW WAIT A MINUTE!!!! Is not live preview exactly what the op is asking for?????????

He IS asking about Live View, but the DOF button does not operate when in Live View. When in Viewfinder mode it does close the aperture for a preview.

On my D7100, the shutter speed and aperture are always shown in Live View on the bottom line of the screen....is this what you mean, or do you mean you want the overall exposure to show, for example when DOF preview is shown in the viewfinder?

Well, apparently I was right...
Check this video:
you tube video
But he even says NOT all cameras will engage DOF preview in live view, some will... I just tried again on my D7100, and DOF preview only appears to work in viewfinder mode, not Live view.
Actually, I can hear the aperture snapping closed when I hit DOF preview in viewfinder mode and nothing in Live View....
At least on a Nikon D7100.
No no...i'm not talking about the DOF preview.
I'm talking about this but for a D7200:

Use the menu on the left (URL tags) or get rid of the 's' at the end HTPP(s).
Well, find the 'i' in your camera and follow the menu?

Thanks for the link advice.
It's not my camera. A friend of mine has a 7200 and there is no option under the "i" menu for the exposure preview....hence the question. I'm very confused by it.
I can't imagine Nikon building this camera (7200) without this function.
Well, your friend has no eyes.
The 'i' is there, bottom left.
Page 15 of the manual on line.
Page 189 190 for description of options

Well, thank you for your help. But I have to say that my friend and I, both have eyes.
We did use the "i" button. We did scroll through the menu. There was NO choice in the "i" button menu on her D7200, to engage "Exposure Preview" like there is on my D750.
Like I said I'm confused by this missing option on the 7200.
Wow!!! Thank you MMC!
I guess that explains why I couldn't find it.
I shake my head at the designer's decisions on what to include and leave out of a camera's capabilities.
