NO NO not Aretha Franklin
So many animal lovers out there....I thought it might be nice to show off your rescues....
Mine is MaraBella...So many unknowns about this girl, breed, age, life before me. I got her from a transport truck which held her in a crate for a ten hour drive from one of the Carolinas. She curled up on my couch for almost three days before she showed me how CRAZY she was. But I'm a little crazy too, so we adjusted to each other just fine. Took almost a full year for me to get her to sit still long enough to take her photo...and another one to get her to sit still long enough for me to take her on a walk with my camera and expect to get a shot of anything else.
at first afraid of water...now sitting on the front of the boat
jailed after running off :-)
Nice shots. We "rescued" three dogs: two from a pet store ($$) and one from a friend who was moving and could keep only one dog.
SHOW them please....
anyone else too please share your rescue and story too if you feel like it.

Thanks so much for starting this topic, Nan. The happy endings are always so inspiring and heartwarming. I love your rear view shot of MaraBella gazing out at the river.
12-lb Trixie adopted me from the Humane Society 6 1/2 years ago. It actually took me a little time to return her unconditional love as I was still missing my blond beagle mix, Monty (also from the Humane Society) who had been with me for nearly 15 years.
As you can see, Trixie also took over my avatar last month :)
Who could not melt at the sight of those expressive brown eyes?

So so sweet...What a wonderful image. I would def print and hang that one....
took me five years after the loss of my Westie Casper, to start scanning pet finder for a rescue.
I'm so glad you both found each other Linda.

Great shots, River. I agree, rescue is the only way to go. My avatar is my beagle, Casey that I got from, TracysDogs in San Antonio, Texas. I'm located in Pittsburgh, PA
don't you have another to post!

Absolutely, River. I was at work on my earlier post, with no access to my photos. Here's one I like.

What a charmer! This is the sweetest photo, rp! My blond beagle mix used to lie with back legs like that too! Because of his coloring, people thought he was a yellow lab puppy 'til he was about 10 years old :)
HEHEH it always cracks me up when dogs lay belly down, legs out like that...Thanks for sharing.

What a great idea for a thread. I have 2 rescues. Sammy the schnauzer who's owner gave him up because her boyfriend was jealous and Gizmo the yorkie who you would not have recognized as a yorkie when I got him. The lady who gave him to me already had 8 dogs of her own. Gizmo came up to her house one day and she took him to a groomer and had all his hair cut off because he was covered in cuckle burrs. He was a starved to death little thing that you could count every rib he had. He was scared to death of my then 6yr old grandson but now he is with him everywhere he goes. They are both great and make my life better to have something that love me as much as I love them.

OK jerry put them in the truck and take a photo we all lov-ya-dearly... but the avatar photo, you in your truck, are boring ... time to change!! It is OK to go to the dogs and have them in the cab along with you.
