Boater's Bad Day After Christmas

Ken's Kaper ran aground after a storm on the 26th. The vessel had broken its mooring during the night. With the high winds and surf it safely floated over the coral reef and came aground at Baby Beach. The vessel suffered no damage to this point.

Good set JoAnne, but not a good way to exit 2015, -- at least there is no damage, you will have to post some re-floating shots?

Talked with the owner yesterday morning and he is taking things off the vessel to try and lighten it as much as possible. Since we normally have a 1 - 2 foot tide change with extremes being about 4' it will not be easy for him to have it removed. He feels that they'll damage the boat more as they try to move it. Once clear of land he'll have to wait for high-high tide to get it over the coral reef. I wish him luck.

JoAnneK01, nice pictures of the grounded boat, and good story of this sad, unfortunate event. Thanks for sharing. Tejaswrangler :)

Ken's Kaper was refloated on 1/14/16 with only minor damage. It was able to go out on a high, high tide about 3 in the morning.

These are excellent shots Joanne; thank God there was no damage to the vessel or those on board !
