Learning more about shooting the D300 in tethered mode. Shifted to tripod mode on Live View and have been able to achieve better critical focus. This is a prepared and stained slide of a rotifer. Body length appears to be about 70-80μm. I'll be more accurate soon - ordered a stage micrometer that measures out in 10μm (1/100th of a millimeter) units. I suspect the small stuff in the image are bacteria, but not sure.
Need to run down to a local pond to see if I can find some live single celled stuff to shoot.

That's a cool shot. Haven't seen a rotifer since school. Do you have any photos of a Vorticella? I remember watching them under a microscope, interesting and very active. You may get some in that pond. 8-)
