Setting f-stop when video recording - Nikon D7200

I am trying to learn more about taking videos with my D7200. I rarely use it for videos and when I did the other night at my granddaughter’s Christmas program I struggled with setting the f - stop. On my D5100 I can change the f- stop while I am recording but with the D7200 it appears you can only set the f- stop after you stop recording , switch the “movie” selector back to the “camera” setting, set the f-stop and then set everything back to record.
I have read the manual and David Busch’s book and neither mention that you have to stop recording and switch before changing the f- stop.

Can someone help? Do I have something set up wrong?
Thanks in advance

Darrell Young, author of "Mastering the Nikon D-series Books" suggests shooting video in Auto for my D7100. I have had decent results as long as I make very minor & slow moves with my 18-140MM lens.

Thanks both of you. I looks like I will just use Auto for my casual videos.

I have my ISO set to max out at 6400. In iMovie I can alter the WB if there are issues i.e. Fluorescent light or orange campfire lite videos. You can tinker with manual at your leisure but in a quick "I got to get this" I flip to auto and go for it.

What do you have you "Manual Movie Settings: set to? What mode are you shooting in?

l can not find any setting that has "Manual Movie" associated with it. What menu item is that in?

I was shooting in Aperture priority.

Not on my Movie Setting menu. Reset the menu but does not show up.

OK, I have the D7000, thought they were both the same.
