Paid $25 for this Sigma 28-90, with macro @ 90mm. These shots were taken with it on a crop sensor. These were handheld and cropped to 8X10. Download shows pretty good detail.

Great buy on a good lens - BUT - like many of us we are fooled by the "Macro" setting on so many lens - we get very nice close ups but not true macro. For just a few $$ more you can buy some lens adapters that will allow you to mount this lens in revers and capture true macro photos..

I actually have the reversing adapter as well as a set of extenders. Have not really had the opportunity to utilize them. I was able to be less than a foot from my subject and focus which surprised me. Don't claim to be an expert or adept at macro but just havin' fun.

Thanks for the feedback!

Me to - I am having a lot of fun experimenting with some old manual FD lens in the reverse coupled with a bellows and tripod.
Learning to do image stacking has helped my macro works a lot.
The fellows here on UHH have helped me a lot.

There are just so many aspects of photography to explore, I just can't find the time. I guess we are all suckers for being seduced by such a tantalizing mistress!

I have been retired for over 15 yrs and with getting older -78 now - I find my hobbies that took a lot of effort- fishing & hunting - have taken back seat to my photography and as I live in a rural and mountainous area I do most of my photography from or near my car. I always have a camera in the car no matter where I am.

Retired myself a few years back but not enough so I still work, do my honey do list and very active in my Moose Lodge. I too try to stay near my vehicle when wife and I go takin' pictures. Just hurts too much to do a lot of walking
