The texture is interesting and the colors make me think high energy, which is appropriate for the scene. And if I wanted to think "deeper," I could say that blurring the people makes them more anonymous - another statement on the subject.
Can you talk about what appealed to you with this treatment? Am I totally off-base? :)
Two suggestions below:
1. a slight trim of the left side to make more symmetrical at the top, perhaps a tiny straighten adjustment too. Done in a Chromebook app and using a touchpad, so not perfect.
Here's another thought if you wanted to keep the pretty curve on the left side.
I didn't mind the symmetry...or lack of it. I kinda liked it, the arches and the green. But I can see now that it is improved by straightening.
I just finished reading a book...Lives of the Impressionists
It ended with their reaching success only after their art was shown in NYC. Made me think of this image I recently took and thought it might be fun to try to make this every day scene into a painting of that style.
Hi, RiverNan
N.Y.C. Is my natal village, and I love this image!
My first memories of that grand place was in the forties when it was filled with men in olive drab and white!
(But I fear I must quibble....that's "Grand Central Terminal"- emphatically, not just a "station" along the way to somewhere! Trips begin and end there; they don't just stop...and then go on!)
Love the painting effect!

That is really cool Nan. I'm gonna have to try this. I like the way Grand Central turned out, with all those rich colors. Nice creative image. Would you mind adding the original so we could see what this process actually did? Fascinating.
Usually I'm not particularly crazy about painting effects applied to photographimc images. Nor do I get excited about the done-a-million-times Grand Central main hall from the upper level shot. But put both together, and you have something different, something original. There are very few Grand Central Station photos I'll remember. I think this will be one of them.
Well sorry to be different RiverNan if I want to take a photo I pick up the Nikon I want to make a phone call I pick up the Nokia or similar.
I want to paint a picture I set up a canvas and grab some brushes and paint.
Have a deep loathing for simplistic software that is supposed to turn a snap into a painting. Seen worse than this but that does not make this good.
In no way does it produce art but its OK for the grand kids to play with maybe.
You did ask what I thought.

I like it, there's a touch of a Lowry about it.
I like the effect used on a shot that has been taken a million times before . To me Linda,'s second version takes it up a notch.
Artistically conveys the mood of the daily event rather than the specifics of a particular day. Now use a 3D acrylic paint printer and gold frame... auction at Sotheby's auction for $100,000
One of the things I love about UHH is the differing opinions Another is the wide range of expertise and knowledge.
I am happy that someone so familiar with this sight can appreciate what I attempted. Even happier that I could prompt you to go back in time and consider your memories.
That you like it and some don't is purely a matter of taste and opinion.
When facts are involved there is only one that is correct. Thank you for "quibbling" (that is a great word) and setting me straight. Grand Central Terminal it is!

Minnie if you go to the link you can see all the steps and how it changes with each direction. the instructor also shows how to create it as an action in photoshop but I could not do that cause I don't think I can create the action in elements.
here is the original IPHONE image

You are most thoughtful and kind to rise above two dislikes to find a like and I appreciate you taking the time to say so!

Thanks, Nan. Very interesting to know.
dpullum put it quite succinctly: "Artistically conveys the mood of the daily event."
OH Billy...I don't think you are sorry at all. I'm sure you enjoy being different and I am glad you are.
what if I said I took it with my Olympus...would that really have made a difference to you?
Why would you waste your time and energy with LOATHING? And in this case it really is purely waste since it was not simplistic software...unless you consider Elements as such.
And it certainly wasn't a one click effort.
You and your silly WHAT IS ART? Having just read a book about the Impressionists (see above), I will remind you that when they first exhibited, they were mocked and laughed at. I don't think anyone is laughing now.
In no way do I compare myself with them...but you do remind me of the first viewers...so sure of themselves in their haughty criticism.
Surely you could find a nicer way to express yourself.... You must know that VERBAL EXPRESSION IS AN ART, that you could use some practice with.
