Here is the other view of my dinosaur tooth. You can see what looks like a half-circle flat plate sticking out the front surface of the rock. I believe that is the chewing surface of the tooth. I looked this up once, and it appeared that the upper and lower jaw were lined with these semi-circles, and they rubbed vertically together to grind up the plant material in the creature's diet.
The parallel lines in the middle photo are what they call a trace fossil. The animal didn't leave any body parts behind, but instead left tracks in a muddy ancient seabed. These are possibly trilobite tracks, and are believed to be about 400 million years old.
The Cinnabar crystal is one that I look forward to getting a proper macro shot of soon...

Interesting post and good finds.
I don't think the track is of a trilobite because a trilobite is similar looking to a horse shoe crab or perhaps I am looking at something different then you.

I don't know much about the tracks, but I believe the info I got with them suggested trilobite. Maybe the action of the feet on both sides combined into the continuous track? I really don't know - and I often wondered about how *they* know! Tracks left in the mud before the first dinosaur walked the earth...
I just find the age of this stuff so fascinating!
Thanks for looking.
Incredibly fascinating info, Phil, and excellent shots as well!
