For many years (over 30), these people always decorate their tree to look like an apple. It's pretty cool and you can see the red glow as you drive down the street. It has become a tradition in our town to "go see the Apple" at Christmastime. So, here are two pics of that tree. The second one was my first attempt at zoom blur. I didn't get my tripod out, which I needed, but I was just playing to see if I could do it. haha... Love the things I'm learning about on this site. :)

Well done Patty, and a neat history on the tree. I like the second image too!

Hey, thanks a lot, Jake. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics! By the way, I'm really lovin' my 7dmkii. I remember you have one too, as I've followed your posts about this camera. I've barely scratched the surface on learning this camera, but I'm one to get comfortable with certain settings before trying new ones. ;) Thanks, again, for looking!

Thanks alot, Ted! I'm really glad you like them. I want to experiment more with the zoom blur, only use a tripod next time. ;)

I'm right there with you Patty on the 7D MKII. I'm learning many of the different settings coming from a 60D, and I absolutely love this camera. My 5D MKII has been abandoned to the cupboard for the time being.

Michael - I upgraded from a 50D, which is still a pretty good camera. I don't have a full-frame camera, but wish I could also afford the 5D MKIII. I had debated on saving more and getting that one, or go with the 7DMKII. I don't regret the decision, but would like to experience the difference in the two cameras. I'm ready to buy my next lens, a 70-200 f/2.8L IS II. I also want to get a 1.4III extender. I decided I would have more options with this set-up, as opposed to getting the new 100-400. I hope I'm making the right decision. :) I'll have a lot to learn with this camera and the new lens!!

Absolutely delightful decoration and your zoom blur is terrific! If you're not too into pp, you could do a topic in the post processing forum and ask for help removing the house on the right + add the trunk in (post both shots, with download). That'd be pretty darned cool to hang on the wall!

Thanks, Linda. Cool idea! I really don't have experience with PP, but it is something I'd like to learn more about. I think I need more time and patience first. ;)
