3 Juvenile Bald Eagle poses.

Yesterday I watched this young Bald Eagle catch a salmon in our lake and then flew to a tree nearby and started to eat it. The Juvenile Bald Eagle was about 125 to 150 feet away. I used a total of 560mm (lens and extender) for the shots.
The sky was mostly cloudy with a few drops of rain and some sunshine.

Even with the amount of zoom you have crystal clear detail. Nice.

When you are shooting with a 50.6 MB camera, it is easy to get this kind of detail. Thank you very much, DianeL.

Just wonderful photos to see Regis. How do you like the new camera? Is it what you had hoped especially compared to the 7D mk II that you were using? I've been waiting and waiting for your eagles to come back and was surprised to see the new camera to boot.
Beautiful done Regis.
Where is your Tamron lens?

Thank you very much, cmc65. I really like my new camera. It is even better than I hoped for. It is of course, sharper than my Canon 7D Mk2, but if you don't need 50.6 MB's, then The Canon 7D Mk2 does a great job of taking photos at a faster speed. However, I am a person who likes detail, so I am keeping both cameras.

I still have it. I am still testing out my new camera with my newer Canon 100-400 II and the Canon 1.4x III extender which is a great match-up. I took some Tamron photos the other day and they came within 95 % as good as the Canon assembly. The multi-coated and expensive lens coatings on the Canon 100-400 II give it great contrast which gives you a sharper photo and the 1.4x III extender does not degrade the image. But, the Tamron does a fine job and is a lot cheaper lens. Many people will not notice the difference in sharpness except for me. I always compare my lenses with various tests.
Thank you, Clemens, for your nice comment.

Thank you very much, datsmar. This camera has different internal levels of sharpness settings like fineness, contrast, etc, that other cameras do not have.

I also have the 7d mk II and the 100-400L MK II lens and really love it, however , that being said I still want a FF and had resigned myself to wait until the new 5D MK IV makes the scene, then Canon threw in these two new 5D's and now I find myself longing for all those MP. I wish they would hurry up and do the IV so we know what it is going to be like by comparison.
Are you finding the size of the files a problem on your computer as far as storage goes?
Excellent set, Regis, even double clicked downloads looked great!

I was thinking the same thing about waiting for the 5D Mk4 to come out, but that might be a while and it won't have 50 MB's. I have read where it would be 25 to 30 MB's, but no one knows for sure. I wanted the 50.6 MB's now especially here during our Bald Eagle season. Anyhow, I love this camera. My shots you are seeing were taken under bad conditions of cloudy, fairly dark skies at 150-200 feet with these Eagles. They still turned out good, but when the sun is shining the detail is phenomenal.
The average full frame .jpg photo is 20 MB. I do not shoot RAW. Most of the time I crop (these eagle shots were 1.8 MB). You can crop a lot images from one full-sized photo. Now, if you shoot RAW, then your looking at 50-60 MB per photo. So, for me, storage is no problem. Look at my photo of a building below. The building was about one mile away and I used 560mm (canon 100-400 II and 1.4x III extender).
So what you can see of the building with your naked eye or about 50-60mm is tiny or about less than 1 sq. inch.
Isn't this amazing. You can see the furniture a mile or more away.

Thank you, Swamp-Cork. Yes, this Canon 5Dsr really brings out the details in the photos.
