Used them both but own neither...yet.
Leaning toward the Olympus 12-40.
Absolutely love the 40-150.
It's on my must have list.
Olympus OMD-EM1 should be delivered tomorrow.
Yes I did know that! Thanks for the correction.
One thing about m43 format is that, while you can use any m43 lens on any m43 camera, there are certain advantages to using Panasonic and Leica lenses on Panasonic cameras, and Olympus lenses on Olympus cameras.
The Oly lenses tend to be better corrected for chromatic aberrations and such. But Panasonic corrects for CA in the camera, using the JPEG processor. (Raw images can be corrected in better post-processing software.)
Olympus lenses generally don't include image stabilization, since Oly puts that in it's cameras and calls it In-Body Image Stabilization IBIS.
Panasonic puts Optical Image Stabilization in some of its lenses, and only a handful of its cameras have in-body stabilization (the GX7 and GX8). The GX8 can use DUAL O.I.S (lens and body).
Just a few m43 lenses are weather sealed, for use on the GH3, GH4, and similar bodies.
Here is an interesting link:
http://hazeghi.org/mft-lenses.htmlIt's a comprehensive list of lenses for m43 cameras.
For switchers from other brands/formats, check out MetaBones adapters and SpeedBoosters for your existing lenses. Especially for those with older, manual-focus lenses, and for those who intend to shoot lots of video, these adapters can allow use of existing optics in new and exciting ways. Using non-m43 lenses involves some limitations, but sometimes, you just want to turn off automation and control aperture and focus manually, anyway.
