My new Lenovo laptop has Windows 10 installed. Everything is fine except it seems that every time I turn it on I have to play games to get my wifi connection (Verizon) to work. I seem to remember having read something somewhere about it having something to do with Windows 10 and that there might be a fix. Can anyone advise? It's soooo frustrating to have to go to settings each time. And most times it indicates that my modem IS connected. Sometimes disconnecting and re-connecting does the trick. Other times I have to be more creative. Grrrrrrr. Anyone have the answer?

Not sure we have the same issue, I have mine connected directly to my wifi access point via ethernet cable. It will disconnect 4-5 times a night, I would disconnect the ethernet from my laptop and lick the end of the ethernet and reconnect and it works...for a short time. Still have not discovered the cause, hope someone on here will give us some resolve.

This indicates a bad connection, nothing more.

The plug may have dust inside it and when wet (from your saliva) it connects until it dries out...

Best bet is to use a Q-tip, dip it in alcohol or nail polish remover and clean the pressure wires.

If this does not work, change the cable.

Thanks, Ron. Good info. I won't know for a day or two if this thing stays connected because it didn't ALWAYS disconnect. Just frequently enough to be very annoying. Sounds like others had a much bigger problems than me.

Note that the location of your router is important. Close to other electric equipment, phone, stereo, speakers, computer is bad, on the floor is really bad.

You can also make a parabolic reflector to increase the signal in one direction (and kill what is behind) using aluminum foil covering a plastic bottle cut in half length wise and spread open...

Usually high or at head level is the best bet.

Not necessary unless the modem is not recognized at all. If everything else fails, it is a solution but only then.

To know how to do that you need to access the manufacturer web site then verify if there is indeed an update and if so, how to proceed.

Thanks again, Ron. I'm online now so that is not the issue.

Nawww, it's a rather new modem and the connection at the computer is the issue, it works fine in the wifi mode. I just cleaned the connection with alcohol and testing it now....so far so good. :)
