I wouldn't be so quick to call L glass lenses crappy, there are some really good ones in the current product line and even the bad ones are a step up from the 'starter' lenses they replace.

I have not altered what feel or stated in anyway.
Canon's original intent for L glass has very little to do with what marketing pressure forces them to do today.
