Color shift from ACR to PSE Editor

I've put together a new computer and installed Windows 10.
It has a new ASUS GeForce GTX-950 graphics card and a pair of Samsung SyncMaster 204B (1600 x 1200) monitors from my old computer.

When I open a CR2 file in the Photo Shop Elements (PSE) editor, Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) displays the picture, ready for Exposure and Temperature adjustments.
After getting these adjustments to my liking, I then click "Open Image" to open the PSE editor.

When the editor displays the image, the color is strongly shifted to a warmer, much browner hue.
This is not the image I want to use for further adjustments.

I've used PSE with my old computer and haven't had this problem.
Is there a color profile that the card or monitor needs? I don't know much about these things.

Can anybody help?

Could it be the color settings. Edit > Color Settings.

Thanks for the reply. I explored this area but didn't find anything that looked abnormal.

I didn't expect the problem to be associated with the monitor, display driver, or the graphics card driver.
However, I realized that although I had installed the graphics card driver, I had not installed the monitor driver.
I've assembled several computers, and I've never needed to install a monitor driver.
I tried that, (installed the monitor driver) and the problem has disappeared. I don't understand it, but I'm happy.

Edit: I remember that I also ran some auto color adjustment utilities that came with the monitor driver. Perhaps that is what did it. Remember, PSE/ACR are (I assume) both using the same drivers, so I'm very confused.

If anyone has any supportive or conflicting comments, I'd like to hear them.

Gary, have you calibrated the monitor, and as bsprague mentioned, check your colour profiles settings in PSE.

Do you mean Edit/Color Settings? I have this set for "Always Optimize Colors for Computer Screens"

The monitor hasn't been properly calibrated, but it's not bad.

Keep in mind, I was able to arrange two screens on the same monitor at the same time.

One of these was the PSE Organizer photo with the band indicating "Edit in progress".

The other of these was the photo being edited. The photo was first opened and displayed by ACR. No adjustments were made. Then "Open Image" was used to show the photo in the editor. The two renderings of this same photo had significant color differences.

I've messed with the monitor adjustments and driver. Now things work properly. I have a second monitor. I'll experiment with it.

This is the kind of problem that make me want to go back and ask myself if I really know what I've done or seen. If I learn more, I'll let you know.

Gary, that "Always optimize.." might be the issue. You are letting the computer do the thinking. Select, if available, sRGB.

I would also suggest investing in a calibration tool, like a Spyder Pro.

I would make sure that you aren't working in 2 different color spaces. Maybe LR is sRGB, and Elements is adobe RGB, or vice versa. I had that issue on one laptop, and it drove me crazy. Not sure how it got switched. Once I got the color spaces the same, everything transferred over without a hitch.

I am using PSE 14, but I would surmise that you are right. I remember that the foreground/background squares seemed to be beige/black. The foreground value was FFFFFF (pure white). The foreground square looked beige when compared to the white parts of the surrounding screen. I don't know how this happened or exactly how it got fixed. I installed some drivers (monitor and printer) and it went away.

I have learned some things about color spaces. I plan to use sRGB for all my work.
