My niece is looking at a Nikon D 3300 and asking my opinion. I am a Canon person and know nothing about Nikon. Would appreciate some advice. Thank you

If YOU want one, get one for yourself

The camera is for a female think before you talk

You may have read this review already, but I want to repeat one point made early in the text from Ken Rockwell: The D3300 is for people who want great pictures. More expensive cameras are for people who want fancier cameras.

As a first camera, the D3300 is a fine choice as would be the corresponding Canon EOS Rebel models.

Tuff guy huh? Don't blame me for not being able to comprehend the original question. Read it again - it will be used by a female.

A big camera is not a replacement for your small pipi. Go work on your snapshots.

Nice camera. It is up to her. How far she wants to go with it. Rule 1. Learn the camera. Enjoy. Keep on shooting for better pictures.
