Took these pictures right after going on an ATV trail with David... what fun splashing through the mud and over rocks!!!
But as we were leaving I had to take some pictures of this as I love the detail and rust of this old structure....
The Old Sugar Mill of Kōloa was part of the first commercially successful sugar plantation in Hawaiʻi, which was founded in Kōloa in 1835 by Ladd & Company. This was the beginning of what would become Hawaii's largest industry. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark on December 29, 1962. A stone chimney and foundations remain from 1840.
I really like the first shot. There are many shades of rich earthy color. You shot from a fairly low angle which works well. It just makes for a pleasing scene with a lot of points of interest.
I enjoyed your narrative and images on the Sugar Mill, Angela. I remember reading about the beginning of the sugar industry in Hawaii in James A. Michners book 'Hawaii'. Your pictures helped bring the story to life.

Interesting set and information Angela, nice textures. :D
Oh how I love history, so these are certainly my cuppa tea. Fantastic shots, Angela, and I love what you did with Topaz TE. You're way ahead of me. I've yet to come up with anything I like, and I can't figure out some of the interface. Not very intuitive IMO. What do you think?

Hi Carol, glad you enjoyed these. You don't know how bad I wanted to climb over the fence and get up close! ...and I had to shoot these really fast since we had people waiting for us.
