Just a reminder guys and girls! Photography can be a dangerous hobby, especially if you lock out everything else around you. Four years ago during a rare snow in Dallas, after shooting an old wagon, I turned, slipped on the snow covered ice, turned to keep my camera out of danger and wound up needing back surgery for a burst disc. Yesterday, I stopped to shoot a buzzard in Irving, and while I got the shot, I also slipped on a mud covered sidewalk. Minor injuries to ankle, knee, hip, elbow, and shoulder. Nothing serious, but my camera wound up under my hip. Results....It's on it's way to CT to be repaired. Their estimate, just over $200. Hope it stays that way. Photography dangerous? Just a klutz?
Too much concentration on shot, not enough on environment.
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger.

Oh it's easy to relate to that, latest clutzy adventure for me while stalking a beautiful bird through the viewfinder, I stepped in a nest of fire ants hidden in the grass (painful to say the least) not fun and several days of painful reminder from that one.
Once, an accident
Twice, a klutz.
You named it.
Dangerous or a Klutz? Not sure what the answer is, but whatever you do, don't play with hand grenades!:)
Anyone can fall, it is a question of knowing how to fall and remembering to tuck the camera like a football.

Take care. Hopefully you'll be more aware of your surroundings next time.

Not always an option. I slipped on an icy ramp about a month ago and elbowed myself in the ribs. The ribs took about a month to recover. It happened so fast I didn't have the reaction time to do anything to mitigate the landing. My reflexes aren't as fast as they used to be.

Of course you could always move to Florida and get away from that silly cold, snow, sleet, ice, freezing rain, etc. 8-) :D

LIVING is dangerous if you're absent-minded of your surroundings. Hey, I resemble that remark!
I learned early on, in 1969, after being flattened by a cornerback on a high school football team. I was photographing from the sidelines. You have to stay aware of your surroundings, even with a camera at eye level.
I have learned the same lesson many times... I once backed my foot into a light stand, tipping it towards me, somehow, and shattering a 250-watt ECA photoflood bulb when it hit the back of my head! The hot filament burned some of my hair.

Thanks for the reminder. Slow and steady will usually get you home safe.

Been there twice. Once in Buenos Aires (hit my head and wound up in emergency room, no problem), and once in Cold Spring, NY (again in emergency room, no problem). It's a matter of losing yourself in the shot.
As a landscape and wildlife photographer, I've learned that if you're not falling every now and then, you're not trying hard enough :D
