Who's that handsome youngster by that old bridge? Was the bridge floor original or have they paved over it? If original, what was it?

That's my hubby, Al. And all the bridges had the original wooden floors, but I don't know what kind of wood.

Very cool set Sue. I love covered bridges. So many have been lost in the last few years to spring and fall floods. I did a loop bike ride in Lancaster County a few years ago that took you through 6 covered bridges. Wonderful too see the bridges but a pretty difficult ride. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Doc! We celebrated our 40th anniversary in Lancaster and we took a hot air balloon ride and saw many of the covered bridges! Our son and his family got to join us 'cause this was his time to say 'bye before being deployed to Afghanistan. It was a wonderful anniversary treat and we have many wonderful memories! :)

Oh Sue, that sounds like a wonderful anniversary celebration. Your son's deployment, well not so much but I really support him and truly thank him for his service. I never got to serve. I went through four years of officer training in college and was two weeks away from graduation and a commission, helicopter school and Viet Nam and I suffered a really bad knee injury. Two weeks from graduation and I hadn't even looked for a job. I really think if I had gone into the service I would have stayed. I loved the organization of everything.
Sorry for rambling.
