What is wrong with my website?

I have been a avid photographer since 1975. I have sold hundreds of my photographs not counting my Modeling Composites,Weddings (1-5k). Donation of my complete services, to many charities, ( Paws4You Rescue is on my site).
I have come to the conclusion that there must be something wrong with my website. I have been with Ifp3/Redframe, my host, for the past 5 years, the first 4 I was in poor health and just wanted a site on the internet. Last year, Redframe redesigned my site (which I like). I made a mistake in uploading some new Nature Galerie photos, somehow deleting all the previous Nature Galerie Photos (hundreds). I have only added new nature galerie photos to the site. Ifp3/Redframe are very professional in the creation of my site. BUT they do not offer any SEO or Marketing services. I have Google analytics.Google +, and Redframe site analytics. All show a lot of activity. I have followed all of Redframe's suggestions.
MY PROBLEM IS, even though I have a professional done expensive website, in the past 5 years+ as of this posting I have NOT had ONE registration, comment, question, price request, or sale(order) from the website via the internet.
I know that I am getting older (71) and it is something I need to correct or re-due. You cannot fix a problem(s) until you know what the problem(s) are! My website is: http://AlexEmbryPhotos.com .
Sorry for the long post, if you are still reading this, Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also my sincere advance THANKS.

That's not a link, just an incomplete address.
This is a working link:

http://alexembryphotos.com/#/page/home/

Other than that, I can't help you.
Nice bridge shots!
Good luck.
Cheers!

I found the website hard to navigate and whenever I wanted to look at a picture it had a big ugly X in the middle. It's pretty hard to admire a photo when the primary visual experience is an "X".

Honestly? I did not see anything worth stopping and commenting.

The menus are not easy to navigate and frankly that is a problem.

The copyright 'x' is never a good idea and take away from whatever you try to offer.

Also do not be fooled, you can pay as much as you want but your site is one among 10 of thousands that have the exact same issue and free...

I guess it has to do with your expectations It is not because you have your own web site that you will be 'recognized'. Unless you offer something truly unique or useful it will not happen.

Were I you, I would cut my losses.

I have to agree with this comment above...
Also: a number of images were not sharp, had leaning buildings and non level horizons. There were also quite a few images where the lighting was not the best and there were a number of grammatical errors too. I don't want to sound negative but photography is an extremely competitive business and there are some damn good photographers out there producing top notch work. These are the ones that get noticed. A website should contain only the very best images and not be repeated or have too similar shots. Editing is the key. There is far more impact to be had with say 10-15 really strong images than several dozen images that can be bettered.

You provide too much detail and information on your pricing list. It is a lot to navigate and I stopped trying almost immediately.

You seem to do all kinds of photography and don't have a focus on any one kind of photography. I have a website and it concentrates on real estate photos. I don't sell prints, etc, I sell my service. I don't get a lot of business off my website, but I do get 2-3 jobs per month.

Most of my business comes from contacts and word of mouth.

If you have keywords that indicate what you are after (nature photography or portraits, etc. ) you will be found more easily. If you concentrate in certain cities or areas, that also needs to be in your keywords. If you don't understand how keywords work, you need to talk you your web designer. They may not do SEO but they can certainly do that for you.

I have a Zenfolio account that costs about $140 a year. I am the one that loads images, puts the keywords in etc. but the site has information on how to do that. Zenfolio is there to answer your questions too. If you are interested in getting one of their web sites I have a code that will get you a discount and I will get credit too.

The code is D62-2K6-RVV

My web site is http://www.WendyPickardPhotography.com

I am found for what I do (real estate photography) when someone types in real estate photography Simi Vally, or Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Moorpark etc.(each city individually) The business I get from my web site results from people that don't usually sell real estate in my areas and have no photographer contact.

Hope this info helps.

There seems to be a bunch of things wrong with the site but first why are you selling a 2011 calendar at the end of 2015?

Apart from the rather horrible big cross over each picture it was hard to see the images, due to size, also why do I need to get a quote for your framed stock images. You seem to be using a version of wordpress there are plugins for selling images. you could have a paypal link set up.
Give me a price for 1 size at least.

whats with the aol email address? you could have sales or alex@AlexEmbryPhotos.com (it can forward to your aol account)

file names like dsc1234editcopy1.jpg that is pretty rough too. why not give an image a title, you could make them limited editions maybe, give them some uniqueness.

The over the top water marking is driving customers away if your posting relatively small images say 900 pix wide on the long side as a print it would be 3inches at 300dpi. In other words too small to print.

If you want you can have a limited number of images for public viewing and maybe more available if you register. Maybe you have to risk having low rez images being taken from your site in order to appeal to paying customers.

Have you any idea how many site visitors your getting?

The navigation is just terrible and its hard to figure out what the site is about. you may be better to use a larger site for selling, you will be competing against 1000's of other photographers but maybe there is enough visitor volume for you to make a few sales.

Maybe once the site is functional you could maybe exhibit or give talks and use the site as a marketing tool If you want to sell your services as a photographer then it needs to be clear what you do.

I am so sorry. The site is truly awful, it is practically unusable. Very difficult to read, the navigation is confusing... it is not even a good "calling card." Please understand, I am not criticizing you but rather the designers.

Dump it. Start over. Think through why you want a website and what your goals and expectations are.

Sorry for being blunt.

Mike

Great photographs, but:

1. Needed help to find.

2. Sidebar poorly laid out. Two menus?

3. Sub-headings too small to read.

4. Get rid of pricing section; give contact info instead.

5. Put "About" in first person.

6. Lead with cover page announcing BOTH availability for AND photos for sale.

7. Re-prioritize sub-menus with favorites first.

8. Last menu wouldn't load.

9. If you can't get these fixed, try SquareSpace. $99 per year and you have complete control. Also, they don't lose content. No, I don't work for or use them; friends use them and like it.

I agree with most of the other comments, the "X" is terrible, menus very hard to navigate. Blog seems to be last updated in April. Nothing here worth hanging around for. I also look at emails, as a professional using a gmail or AOL account tells me you are a weekend photographer. It leaves a very unprofessional feeling. Even the photo name "edited" in the name. You should think about renaming the photos.

I went to your site and sent a message. Let's see if it arrives.

Do you have a way to check on how many hits your site is getting. That would be good to know.
