Ordered late Tuesday from Adorama... (Refurbished body, 499.00) Delivered this afternoon by UPS. I was very concerned initially as the box showed substantial damage. (crushed on it's long side aprox. 10-15%) I opened it and found the outside box to be over-sized and a inside box surrounded by bubble wrap and a bunch of those little plastic air pillows. I opened the undamaged inside box and found the camera and accessories in perfect condition. As soon as I charged the battery I did a shutter count check.... 218.... VERY acceptable. I went through as many of the features as I could figure out... (going to be a major learning curve) and did a detailed examination of the exterior and found it to be in 'new' condition..... I'm sooo looking fwd to taking this baby out for a spin at the Farmer's Market tomorrow morning.....

Sounds like a great deal for you. I'm sure that you will enjoy your D7100 as much as I enjoy mine.

I spent the first couple of nights after getting mine with the owners manual in one hand and the camera in the other to familiarize myself with all the bells and whistles.

Have fun and share your photos.

You got a very good deal there. Yes, sellers have learned to pack for safety. Maybe shippers have learned that and treat packages even rougher. :D

I got mine a year ago (new) at $899 from B&H. It is a great camera which I am still learning. The manual is great and I use it all the time as a reference but I would start with either David Busch or Daryl Young's book on the D7100. They make more sense than a manual when you first start looking at the camera.

I heartily second the idea of a book. I upgraded from D200 to D7100 in March &, after 40+ years of having cameras, bought my first guide book. I learned so much that I recommend Darrel Young's book 'Mastering the Nikon D7100' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Nikon-D7100-Darrell-Young/dp/193753832X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U... ). The instruction book told me how to use the menus - Young told me why!

there were many pages that I skipped over, but there were a bunch that I read more than once.

My site has not been updated for a long time - I need to get busy. Some of what is there came from my old D80. I've checked out some of your work as well - you've got some very interesting work.

Great camera. I have a 16x24 sunset hanging on my wall. My daughter has insisted that I list it in my will so she will get it. ;-) (Not too soon, I hope)

Quickly now. Go buy a copy of Darrell Young's book "Mastering the Nikon D7100". That will give you more insight on the menus and setup. He first opened my understanding when I bought his book on the D90. It became a different camera. Had already been good for over two years. It became much better with his book. The same with my D7000.

And no, my initials are not DY. Heh heh.

Congratulations on getting a great camera at a very good price. I bought my D7100 about a year and a half ago as an upgrade from my D5100 and really like the camera a lot. I also recommend the Darrell Young book as well as David Busch's Compact Field Guide for the Nikon D7100. Between the two, you will get a good idea of the many things this camera will do for you as a photographer.

I bought my first D7100 new 2 years ago and have some 125,000 clicks..I just bought from Adorama another only this time refurbished..absolutely love this camera. I did drop the first one along with my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 and it is slow to focus. You just can't go wrong with this camera.

I downloaded the manuaL and used a notepad to make a list of the basics and a few other things that I really like to use..... I was able to get some acceptable photos this morning (see 'Persimmons, Hookahs & RC Cola' in photos) but I can tell it's going to be a long learning curve......
