Would like to know your take on the Panasonic FZ1000. Actual users only, please. It seems to have a lot of "pluses". So what have you found to be the negatives.....if any?

Thanks for any and all comments about this particular camera.

Bob

The best all-in-one general use bridge camera out there. Not good for shooting things that move, like sports. Surprisingly sharp lens all through the focal length. I used my neighbor's for two weeks while waiting for my GX8 to arrive and sometimes I miss it because of its convenience.

I have had one for over 12 months and have been delighted with it .
I just took it on Safari and got some great low light shots where other people failed.

If I have a reservation it would be the size of the sensor. It could restrict the size of printing.

I have posted many pics here under FZ1000 so if you search you should find them but I have attached a couple here for you. The lens quality and reach is excellent, and the viewfinder is great for my old eyes.

PM me if you have any specific questions, pleased to help.

I use it since more than a year. Great photos!!!
The only negative point I have found is that the camera is a bit "fragile" to shock, to rain and humidity.
I have 2 Nikon D7000 and 1 Nikon D7100. Since I have the FZ1000, I rarely use the 3 Nikons.

I haven't found a downside. There probably is one, however. But, for what I want out of a camera, it doesn't have any downside.

Have had mine for only a couple of months and the only major complaint I have is having the viewfinder blackout for a short period after a shot. Makes it hard to do panning during sports as Lukan mentioned. Frustrating!
My only other issue is not limited to the Panasonic, but the lack of a good manual. I wish there was something more that the online version, something similar to FZ1000 for dummies.

I'm in total agreement about the manual. There is a printed manual available through (something like) "Manuals Ink". They have them in a couple sizes for around $20. I bought one for my Canon SX50. It's the same info. as on the CD. I personally like mine.

Don't overlook the FZ200 which is a winner as well!

A good source of information on both cameras can be found here -

Have had the FZ 1000 for 6 months. Bought it refurb from B&H to bring to Disney in Orlando. It is as large as a small DSLR. The versatility is amazing. The picture quality is outstanding at all focal lengths. It is my go to camera for all casual situations. It is decent in low light but not great. I don't use it for my gigs, my Nikon full frames take care of that. I use the FZ1000 for drive by photos..or unplanned sudden impulse shooting..or travel shots...or family and friend snapshots...the features are outstanding and just plain fun to experiment with. The build of the camera is also outstanding. I don't believe that this would be a good first camera for anyone, but whatever. You will love to use it and you won't want to put it down...just my take on it. The expense of this one is a little steep...but I had a purpose in mind for the camera..and it does the job for me....hope this helps.

I've had the FZ200 for around 2 years and I love it. Prior to it, I had (and still have) a Canon sx40.
Houghton's book and youtube videos on the FZ200 are quite good.

I 'figure that its over 14 months I have had a FZ1000....Find the IQ simply great and the video clear clean and also great. The glass is excellent...I know it is a lot of superlatives but frankly one of the best I have owned. Only one thing that is lacking is the ability for 4k photographs. The FZ300 has that setting...The resolution of a 4k photo is awesome...I want another 1inch sensor camera with longer reach...Looked at a FZ2500 and then a Sony RX10M4....after 182 utube videos and 682 comparisons I flipped a coin. Sony is being shipped. Wife said to get what I want and once every few days as me about the cost. Getting really good at mumbeling and changing the subject. OH look dear did you see that?
