Beautiful leading line, great gritty detail. What's not to love about this pic?

Great landscape, But I think it if the road (subject) came from the corners, it would give it a little more bite? Well that's my two cents. (it's raining here and I could be all wet too!)

I truly enjoy your B/W images.
Re the road. Would that be a typical UK highway?

Graham, I really like the composition of this image. The strong position of the near end of the road leading down to the lake, then off to the right over the middle distance hill, pulls the eye into and around the scene. I like the tonal balance of your monochrome conversion. Where I find fault is in the technical details. To me the image looks over processed and over sharpened. There are discernible haloes around the lake and the small puddles in the road. In addition portions of the distant hills look to be somewhat posterized with fairly large areas which look too flat and smooth. I'd go back to the original raw file and have another go.
Cheers, Don

I like the tonality. Very nice. And I really like that I can see the road continuing in the distance on around the lake. Leads me through the image.

Graham your picture is laid out well as always. The contrast in your pictures are one of the things I always appreciate, especially as I have tried a few monochromes now and find how difficult that is for me to accomplish. I enjoy all of your photos but particularly enjoy the landscapes.

The title of the photo draws you in to look much closer. After all, at first look, the road appears to head directly into the lake, but at closer look it can be seen to curve around and follow the lakeshore. More of Scotland's rough landscape, it makes you wish to know what awaits at the end of the road.

It is my regret that I have never visited the Isle of Skye. The photographs you have posted now and in the past have opened up a desire that i will never be able to fulfil. However, we have your wonderful landscapes of this place and other areas of the UK to give us what we will never experience first hand. Your photogaphs are always a revelation and a joy.

Beautiful moody piece with the distance coming in upon us by way of the puddle muddled road and the lovely grasses on either side. The sliver of the water is just enough to connect the horizon to the foreground with a shimmering layer of light.
Perfect exposure, especially considering the conditions and the moodiness.

Thanks for your work, Graham. It's always a pleasure to view such powerful straight photography.

(Edit: Since a photograph is a symbol and not the thing itself I hope you take my comments in the light of that firmly held belief. That principle was a constant - reminded to me from the time I was printing for WB nearly every day. As a symbol it is open to any thing you wish to do to bring the idea into submission to your will. It's the artist who is in charge - not the art - nor the "scene.")
