I spent two wonderful days last week visiting my favorite N California wetlands, the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex at Willows and Colusa and the state managed Gray Lodge. The SNWR plays a major role in the migration of waterfowl on the Pacific flyway. All are operating on reduced water allocations ( 75% or less) and there were noticeable dry ponds. There is enough flooded area to accommodate the current population of early arrivals. Even in a dry year these visits never fail the rise my spirits.
