This is part of a series I took back in July, making my way along the Confederate Line on Seminary Ridge, going left to right. There are a bunch of them, so I will put them up here on an occasional basis...

Good job. Very natural looking and not over done as so many HDR images are that are posted here. I love the images that do not scream out that it is HDR, and this one has just the right amount to improve the shadows and to not become surreal.

When I see a scene like this, I think about my great great grandfather who was involved with these canons during the Civil War. He was also involved with battles in Pennsylvania.

Thanks, guys. I really didn't want to push these to looking artificial. There is something about the place which draws me, and I just want to try and portray what I am seeing.

Phil, you did just the right amount of HDR. The shadows were brought out perfectly and not one bit of Surrealism. It is just the way I like it. I want to look at a picture and not have it yelling at me that it is HDR. It looks perfectly normal. In fact, since our eyes have a greater range of light to dark seeing than any camera can do, you are merely bringing the image up to what our eyes are seeing. (maybe not the range my cats can see)

Good job!

That is the perfect use of HDR. You brought out the guns under the trees and made the rest more vibrant. Good job.

edit - after downloading both I have to say there really wasn't anything wrong with the first one. If you hadn't done anything with it, it still would have been an intersting shot.

I love that people are still looking at these, 8 years later!
