I would never replace my D610 with the smaller sensor in the D7100. An upgrade to the D610 would be the D810. Is the D610 not doing something you need?

I don't see the D7100 giving you anything the D610 doesn't have, except a bit more reach with your lenses. Do you have DX or FX lenses? If I were you, I'd sell the D610 and get a D750. Now that would be an upgrade.

The sensor you have in your D610 is a full frame sensor (shown in red) and the D7100 has a much smaller crop frame sensor (shown in green). Your full frame sensor in the D610 has much larger pixels and can give you a much better result than the crop frame sensor in the D7100.

It would not be an upgrade to go from a full frame 610 to a crop sensor 7100. Don't even think about it. The 7100 is a great camera, but not an upgrade.
Think about an 810.

Thanks I do like the full frame but I did not know if the D7100 camera has a better overall performance.

I purchased a Nikon D700 full frame camera when I retired five years ago. I traded it towards a D7100 this year but only because I could no longer handle the weight of the D700 around my neck during my daily long walks. I like the D7100 very much but my full frame was the better camera and produced superior images.

It does NOT have better performance, in any respect. The D7100 would be a clear DOWNGRADE to your D610 any way you look at it.
(Although it would make a very good back-up body for those times when a crop sensor would prove advantageous.)

Never!
Keep the D610.
You will not upgrade but downgrade with this change.
Do not understand it wrong, the D7100 is a great camera.
But it will not reach the D610......

Lenny, Are you bored or what? Downgrading to the D7100 would be a mistake unless the D610 is too heavy for you or you just don't like taking full frame photos. The 7100 is a nice camera, but it isn't a FF.
But,...If you are dying to spend some money, I will gladly PM you my address and I will say "Thank you Lenny!".

Not a great idea. An upgrade is to a D810
