Bird hunting on the property sometimes really pays off when I'm patient enough to wait for the good shots. Too often I'm rushed for time with other obligations and try to satisfy my digital photography hobby with quick captures under less than ideal conditions. On this particular day, I put the other obligations on the back burner and stuck with it until I had the captures I could work with. No blind and no purchased feed for these. All captures were from the avian normal feeding and fluttering routines. Posting six images; best viewed in download.

A wonderful series!
I love #1, the branches are beautiful by themselves.

Thank you very much Sarantis; I'm really glad you enjoyed these as they were so much fun to capture and I enjoyed sharing them. :-D :-D
I like #1, Jim. A tiny little bird among all the gnarled :) branches. The vignette works well to draw our attention to the star.

Thank you Linda, we are getting some really beautiful birds down here now and more should be arriving each day. Thanks again. :-D
Nice series. #1 is my favorite, the branches are what gives the photo such an appealing look, the bird is just icing on the cake.
Patience-The most important component in a camera bag!
Great set Jim and patience is the name of the game.

Cheers Jim, I'm striking to produce good bird photos like you and Harve do all the time, even if it means I have to stay in one place for an extended period of time. Thanks my friend for the visit, sage advice, and the very kind comment. :-D :-D
Jim, nice series that looks like a lot of work. I love the expression in that last shot. Like he just noticed you and wants to know what the heck you are up to!

Hi Carol it was as much time consuming as it was adventure; I had to become a prop against my vertical garden stand so that the birds calmed down and started acting naturally and then of course prefocus on where you hope they'll be and if luck holds Voila a good shot. Thanks so much for your visit and nice comments. :-D :-D
